Service Description

About the hike: Introductory beginner day hike in Khappinghat National Park learning basic skills of hiking, equipment choice, hazards and risks, tips and tricks, navigation using maps. This is a Grade 3 [AWTGS] difficulty hike on dirt road and walking tracks with some short, steep hills covering around 6km and 150m elevation, with some short off-track sections to test navigation & map reading skillset. Fitness ability relates to being able to walk with a pack [* not provided bring what you wish to train with and not fully loaded ] in undulating terrain with many stops & breaks for teaching & rest at a reasonable walking/hiking pace. This hike is a Beginner introductory hike progressing to our more advanced hikes to be scheduled in Coorabakh , National Park, Barrington Tops National Park & our multi-day Warrumbungles Trip and would be seen as a pre-requisite for these trips. Time: Start time 8am for a finish by 11am. What to Bring : Bring your own snacks and drinks, own backpack,2L water, hat, sunscreen and insect repellent, small towel, change of clothing at the end. If you need to borrow a pack, walking poles, rain gear , gaiters please let us know we can accomodate. What we offer: Course leader is a certified Outdoor Guide with decades of outdoor experience & will pass on knowledge learnt over many years of outdoor activities & hiking, navigating experience. Guide will carry PLB,First Aid Kit , Snake bandages and is Wilderness First Aid trained. We provide you with a map & handbook for you to keep. The event has a wellness focus & we explore the nature of Body,Mind & Soul in the outdoor environment & how this relates to your wellbeing with some introspective activities which you don't have to participate in but are encouraged. Note :This is an all-weather event unless conditions are deemed to be dangerous and will be notified the night prior to the activity with the option to re-schedule. Cancellations accepted up to 1 week prior to event with refund otherwise no-refund provided but re-schedule possible.
